    Professional Marketing Specialist – Energy & Power Technologies, EMEA

    Location: Neu-Isenburg/Germany


    Job Function

    Based in Germany, works with both the EMEA commercial Energy & Power Technologies team and broader global marketing organization to effectively strategize, plan, support and execute localized marketing activities.  Utilize marketing expertise, best practices, and innovative tools to execute on strategies that drive product segment and division growth.  This is accomplished through creating integrated marketing campaigns for initiatives and launches targeted for key vertical markets: solar, wind, energy storage/e-Mobility, oil & gas, power distribution and industrial automation. 


    Primary responsibilities include develop, support and execute localized marketing materials for lead generation, lead nurturing and brand awareness that contribute to sales growth.  Help to drive consistency in local strategy and messaging that is aligned with overall global strategies.  Collaborate with key EMEA stakeholders as well as the global marketing organization.  Effectively budget and track division spending for EMEA activities to ensure positive return-on-investment and increase UL’s brand awareness across key markets. Conduct ongoing program, trend and market analysis to provide recommendations to improve activities.



      • Develop and execute EPT local marketing strategies for: tradeshows, seminars, client events, webinars, email campaigns, collateral development, social media, video, print & digital advertising, PR and presentations
      • Collaborate with internal colleagues (business development, engineering, sales, marketing) on activities aligned with strategies to support business development and sales efforts while achieving consensus and support throughout the process
    • Prepare compelling messaging and content for promotions across various channels that supports strategies and brand awareness
    • Write, edit and proofread communications copy for accuracy and to ensure consistency of UL brand messaging, positioning, and value proposition
      • Develop strategies and create targeted campaigns to proactively nurture leads in marketing automation tool
    • Project manage marketing activities to insure project timelines meet business goals
    • Communicate project status to key stakeholders
      • Coordination with in-house agency and/or external vendors
      • Provide support as needed to the global marketing team to execute global strategies with regional emphasis and ensure tactics are aligned with overall EPT goals and adhere to UL brand guidelines
      • Track local and global EPT budget to measure annual marketing spend and ensure positive return-on-investment for all activities
      • Maintain files for all marketing projects and keep internal portal tools updated with current digital versions
      • Fulfill other marketing communications projects as needed


    • Coordinate external events for EMEA, including tradeshows, seminars, webinars, sponsorships, customer events and workshops
    • Collaborate with business development and sales to create individual event strategies, messaging, goals and track ROI
    • Track all activities in UL global tradeshow portal
    • Develop and coordinate booth graphics, collateral and other booth material
    • May serve as on-site coordinator to ensure seamless event execution


    • Research media channels to cost efficiently reach target markets
    • Plan, negotiate, purchase and track print & digital advertising
    • Craft marketing campaigns to assist in the launch of new or enhanced service offerings
    • Ensure all promotion is consistent with UL brand standards


    • Support EMEA public relations and media efforts
    • Research and help secure speaking opportunities for UL executives and SMEs
    • Proactively develop relationships with key media/editors in target markets
    • Write, edit and proof press releases and social media posts
    • Support the development of value-added content by collaborating with engineering, business development and copywriters on whitepapers


    • Develop and post content on the UL Intranet and EPT EMEA website pages,including services, news, events, articles and speaking engagements
    • Provide support as needed to the global marketing team, ensuring business-wide programs are effectively deployed via UL digital properties



    • Collaborate with business development, engineering, sales, and global marketing to develop sales tools, such as presentations, brochures, sell sheets, videos and more
    • Write content and coordinate layout, collaborate with copywriters and creative staff



    • Ensure leads from promotional efforts are properly managed in marketing automation tool and sales CRM
    • Monitor and analyze standard marketing metrics to track, measure and report on the success of marketing initiatives


    • Assist with market and trend research to ensure services and messages capitalize on new opportunities and are properly targeted
    • Help maintain insights on key customers, competitors and trade associations


    Job Requirements


    • University degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field, plus generally eight years of related experience
    • Experience in a B2B professional services environment/ad agency or manufacturer is essential
    • German and English fluency is essential, other languages are beneficial
    • Embraces innovation and flexibility, and is proactive, results-driven, and a self-starter
    • Thinks strategically with established problem-solving skills to develop and execute marketing plans against timelines and meets commitments
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high quality, attention to detail and exceptional customer service
    • Experience working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment
    • Demonstrated ability to interface cross-functionally and resolve complex issues in effective ways
    • Excellent writing and editing abilities in additional to oral communication
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, CMS platforms (Wordpress), CRM tools (Microsoft Dynamics), and marketing automation platforms (Marketo)



    Reports to the EMEA Commercial & Industrial Marketing Manager  

    Travel requirement: up to 10-15%
